Durham Region is launching a first-of-its-kind smart home app meant to help your virtual assistant answer common questions about local programs and services.
The myDurham 311 app is designed to help local residents and families access information in a quick and convenient manner.
It can be downloaded onto any Google or Alexa-enabled device and is also available through Google’s app store.
If you want to find out more about something in Durham, just say “hey Google, talk to myDurham 311,” or “Alexa, open myDurham 311.”
Once installed, your virtual assistant will be able to do things like find a nearby garbage dump, tell you about local councillors or get you a bus schedule.
“Durham Region is a forward-thinking organization; focused on innovation and modernization,” said Durham CAO Elaine Baxter-Trahair. “This app is the first step in our transformation towards a customer-centric approach. Because true customer engagement begins by offering access to services at a time that works for the individual, rather than the corporation.”
If you have found a spelling error, please, notify us by selecting that text and pressing Ctrl+Enter.
Not sure how you download this to a Google Home device. Could you provide more instructions? Also I cannot find it on the App Store.
Hi Linda, you must download the myDurham 311 Smart Home Device Voice App, then just say, “Hey Google, talk to myDurham 311,” or “Alexa, open myDurham 311.”
